Lightning vs Red Wings - Game 6 Playoff Preview & NHL Betting Lines

Posted by Charles Washington on 4/28/2015 3:59:26 AM

Tampa Bay Lightning (+260) at Detroit Red Wings (-310)

Monday (7:00 ET) – April 27, 2015

After winning game four in dramatic fashion in overtime to even the series against Detroit, Tampa Bay went home looking to take the 3-2 series lead by winning the always pivotal game 5. Even with home-ice advantage, things went south for the Lightning, as they were shut out in a disappointing 4-0 loss. Now they have to travel back to Detroit, where the Red Wings will be looking to advance to the next round. This series has gone back and forth the entire way, but game 5 felt like an early knockout blow the Lightning will have to overcome.

What to watch from the Tampa Bay Lightning (50-24-8)

Tampa Bay could get nothing going on the offensive side of the puck in game 5. They find themselves on the brink of elimination, but they will be back in the building where they earned their latest victory, even if that just so happens to be on the road in Detroit. They showed they could win on the road in game 4, but the pressure of an elimination game on the road is a whole other challenge. Tyler Johnson who had two goals in game 4 and has four goals in the series must provide some offense for the Lightning if they are going to be able to force a game 7 back at home. p>

What to watch from the Detroit Red Wings (43-25-14)

Petr Mrazek dominated game 5 in the net, shutting out the Lightning with 28 saves, including 7 big power play stops. He got plenty of help on the offensive end, as the Red Wings scored 4 goals from 4 different players. Jonathan Ericsson controlled the puck beautifully and assisted 2 of the 4 goals. Detroit is now just one game away from advancing and they will be looking to avenge a game 4 loss on their home-ice. The crowd is sure to be hyped and if Mrazek continues to play well in the net, they will have a great chance of moving on to the second round of the playoffs.

NHL Betting Picks: Red Wings

Detroit completely took back the momentum of this series with the dominating game 5 victory. Every game is a new story in the playoffs, but going back with a chance to close out the series bodes well for the Red Wings. Petr Mrazek’s outstanding goal-tending should keep this game low scoring, as the over/under on this game is 5 goals.
