Lightning vs Ducks NHL Lines

Posted by Andrew Monroe on 2/18/2015 8:59:43 AM

Tampa Bay Lightning (-240) at Anaheim Ducks (+200)

Wednesday night is the second and final meeting between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Anaheim Ducks. The Lightning beat the Ducks 5-3 not that long ago on February 8th. This matchup will bring high energy worthy of being considered as the game of the week.

Tampa Bay is fresh off a 3-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Monday night and they are 5-3-2 in their last 10 games.

The Ducks have been sputtering lately, losing four of their last five games, most recently a 5-3 loss to the Washington Capitals on Sunday night.

What to watch from the Tampa Bay Lightning (35-18-6, 76 points)

This is the second game of a five game road trip for the Lightning. This stretch against the Western Conference teams is a major challenge to Tampa Bay who currently has the third most points in the Eastern Conference. They won’t have any travel fatigue in this matchup because of the convenience of playing the Ducks who are right next door to Los Angeles.

Steven Stamkos has been hot for the Lightning lately, tallying seven-points in his last seven games. The center is fourth in the NHL in goals with 30. They will turn to him to lead the way since he has had a lot of success when playing the Ducks, scoring eight-points in five-games.

What to watch from the Anaheim Ducks (35-15-7, 77 points)

Despite the Ducks recent struggles, they still sit a comfortable ten-points on top of the Vancouver Canucks in first place in the Pacific Division. To turn things around they wull look to get more production from their leading point scorer (54), Ryan Getzlaf. He has has had no goals or assists in his last three-games.

Luckily the Ducks have been getting solid production from their right-winger, Corey Perry. He has been dominant since returning from his injury on December 31st, totaling 18-points in 19-games and seven of his last eight.

NHL Picks: Ducks

While the Ducks are favored on the money line, they are an underdog with the spread, getting 1.5-goals on the NHL odds. They are due to wake up and settle the scores of losing their last home game, as well as the loss suffered to the Lighting from ten-days ago to win by at least two goals on their own ice on Wednesday night.
