Sharks Hot Start Worth Attention in Future NHL Odds
The San Jose Sharks have kicked off the 2014-15 campaign on the right foot, winning each of the first three contests. They most recently claimed victory over the Washington Capitals by a tight score of 6-5. San Jose is a team on paper that may not catch your eye, but the potential for a big regular season that can carry deep into the postseason is there.
Coach Todd McLellan sees that potential, saying “That’s a good thing, when you’re not playing as well as you’d like in a lot of areas but you’re still winning games.”
At start this young season, the Sharks are the first team to post consecutive shutouts from two different goalies. Then in the third game, they showed true toughness by pulling out a nail biter. To show that kind of cohesiveness early on is a great sign.
They also had to deal with arguably the best player in game in Alex Ovechkin, who has four goals through three games already this year. Not being intimidated, the Sharks stepped up to the challenge. In perhaps the most critical moment of the game, San Jose’s Matt Irwin scored on a power play, securing the Sharks' two goal lead.
Winning teams make winning plays and San Jose has shown the capacity to be a winner. It’s always difficult to make predictions this early in the season for the postseason, but based on only three games of action it’s clear to see that this Sharks team has the capability to do something special. With four teams ahead of them in the NHL odds to win the Western Conference, the Chicago Blackhawks (+375), Los Angeles Kings (+450), Anaheim Ducks (+550,) and St. Louis Blues (+600), San Jose (+650) can move up that ladder be a rewarding pick in the future NHL lines available in the sportsbook.
