Patrick Kane Vindicated, Rape Case Falls Apart

Posted by David King on 11/8/2015 6:00:55 AM

The wait is over for Patrick Kane, a forward for the Chicago Blackhawks. Frank A. Sedita III, District Attorney for Erie County released a statement stating he will not be presenting a case to the Grand Jury based on an episode that took place at Kane’s home, located in Hamburg, N.Y. last August.

Kane has been dealing with rape charges that were recently found to be unsubstantiated. According to the courts, there was not enough evidence, forensic or physical, to corroborate the accused statement. Kane has cooperated with authorities from the start of the investigation. Kane has constantly maintained his innocence and placed his faith in the judicial system. Luckily for him the legal system worked in his favor, vindicating him of the heinous charges.

Sedita stated that the evidence didn’t match the accuser’s allegations. Claiming that she was raped on Kane’s bed was one of the obvious contradictions as little to no physical evidence was present. After reviewing the DNA tests, penetration could not be proven and this is a main component that is required to bring forth the charge of rape. As if the lack of evidence wasn’t enough, the accuser refused to cooperate further with authorities last week, bringing an end to the investigation.

Kane’s been through quite an ordeal in the last few months, but this isn’t his first brush with the law. Kane was arrested in Buffalo back in 1999 after getting into a confrontation with a taxi driver.

Once the number one draft pick, the charges led to Kane being removed off the cover of the EA Sports’ “NHL 16” game. Former fans have chanted anti-rape phrases in Kane’s direction during several of his games this season. The allegations have left a stain that will likely follow Kane for the rest of his career.

Kane already has three Stanley Cup’s under his belt for the last six years he has played in Chicago for the Blackhawks at the ripe age of twenty-six. Many were upset that Kane was not suspended for any games, but the executives of the team remarked in a press conference that they were sure that he would be cleared of all charges.

Thankfully, for Kane, it looks like they were right.
