It's Game 7 in San Jose

Posted by Webster Washington on 5/11/2016 3:17:01 AM

The Nashville Predators were not going to let the San Jose Sharks off the hook that easily. Not at home. So the Predators came from behind, not once, but twice Monday and sent the series into a seventh game with a 4-3 overtime win.

The Series So Far

It's appropriate that the series reach a seventh, the way these two teams have gone at it. Each team has swept at home, with the Preds now having won two OT games on home ice. The Sharks opened the series winning two at home, then back in Nashville, the Preds took two, including a grueling three-overtime triumph.

The Sharks circled for the kill in a 5-1 victory in San Jose on Saturday and were looking to finish off their foes in Monday night's showdown.

But the Predators were having none of it. After allowing the Sharks two Chris Tierney goals in the first 12 minutes of the game, the Preds fought back. Roman Josi won a stick battle in front of the goal to make it 2-1 before the end of the period. Then early in the second, Ryan Johansen found enough open space in front of the goal on a four-on-four to whack a beautiful backhand into the net to tie the game. At that point, the Preds had turned momentum in their favor. It lasted until midway through the third when Logan Couture struck on a power play to give the Sharks a 3-2 edge. But Nashville fought back, yet again. Moments later, Colin Wilson took a perfect pass from James Neal and poked it in for the tie that took it into OT. Two minutes into extra time, young Viktor Arvidsson slashed through the San Jose defense and scored for the win.

Game 7

With the home team having won each game in this series, it would be hard not to take San Jose to capture the series at home on Thursday night. A figure of -110 or better would be worth taking. At the same time, the never-say-die attitude of the Predators makes a number of +130 or better worth a look. I like the Sharks, but I wouldn't blame you a bit if you went the other way. And seriously consider a tie in regulation in a three-way option.
