Old School Brawl Ensues During Flames and Canucks Game

It was old school hockey renewed at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver between the home town Canucks and their rivals, the Calgary Flames. This all started at the opening drop of the puck and possibly before that when Flames’ coach Bob Hartley submitted his starting lineup.

Canucks’ coach John Tortorella took exception to Hartley putting out his fourth line filled with fighters, so he retaliated and put out his fourth line to start the game. There was no question that all ten skaters were about to go at it as soon as the puck was dropped and that’s exactly what they did.

In the end, 10 fighting majors, eight game misconducts and two 10-minute misconducts were assessed with only 0.2 seconds off the clock. John Tortorella would later try to get into the Flames locker room in the first intermission to have it out with Hartley. The Canucks eventually went on to win 3-2 in a shootout, but the March 8th rematch once again in Vancouver is circled on everyone’s calendar as a must see!
