Islanders vs Predators NHL Odds

Posted by Andrew Monroe on 3/5/2015 9:08:32 AM

New York Islanders (+129) at Nashville Predators (-143)

As of late, the New York Islanders and Nashville Predators are not looking like the division leading teams that they are. Consecutive losses haven't come very often this season for each team, but lately they are having a hard time picking up wins. This game being played at 8:00pm ET on Thursday, March 5th will deliver a much needed win to one of these struggling sides.

This is the second and final time the Islanders and Predators meet this regular season. They played not that long ago on February 19th out on Long Island, with the home team having a great performance, sticking it to the Predators by a score of 5-2. Nick Leddy had a really nice game on defense for the Islanders with a goal and two assists. Center John Tavares was the second star of the game with a goal and and an assist to help pick up the win.

What to watch from the New York Islanders (41-21-3, 85 points)

After losing to the Carolina Hurricanes 5-3 last weekend and then 3-2 in overtime to the Dallas Stars on Tuesday, the Islanders are looking to avoid a third straight loss. They are in need of points if they want to seize sole possession of first place in the Eastern Conference’s Metropolitan Division. The Islanders are currently tied with the New York Rangers with 85-points.

The Islanders will be playing without one of their hardest hitters, forward Matt Martin, who was suspended one game by the NHL for kneeing the Dallas Stars Trevor Daley during Tuesday’s game.

What to watch from the Nashville Predators (41-17-7, 89 points)

The Predators are happy to be headed back to Nashville, where they boast the NHL’s best home record (26-5-1), in hopes of turning around a season high four-game losing streak. They hope to put their return to home ice to good use.

Besides trying to avoid a fifth straight loss, Nashville doesn’t want to complete a Tri-State trifecta losing streak. A loss to the Islanders would make it three straight defeats at the lands of New York metropolitan area teams. Their previous two losses were handed to them by the Rangers and New Jersey Devils.

NHL Picks: Predators

Before this losing streak of four games, the most amount of games the Predators lost in a row all season was two games. This skid has to end and they will beat the Islanders to regain their confidence and give them more breathing room on top of the Western Conference’s Central Division.
