Kings v Blackhawks Game 5 – NHL Betting Preview

Kings Lead Series 3-1
The Kings are on the verge of making their second trip to the Stanley Cup Finals in the last three years. They won it in that last appearance. It is never easy to punch a ticket to the finals on the road, hence the NHL betting line has the Blackhawks favored to win (-136).
Chicago is on the brink of elimination tonight. The Kings are up 3-games-to-1 on the defending champs because they have been the stronger team in the series. The Blackhawks are in a tough situation because up to this point they have looked tired and worn out against the Kings' size.
For the Hawks to win Game 5 they will need to put an end to the Kings' momentum. This starts with their struggling players turning things around one game at a time, starting tonight. Marian Hossa, Patrick Kane, Patrick Sharp and Bryan Bickell all have had disappointing scoring outputs and the pressure is on this group to perform, or their season is over.
Another important key to a Blackhawks turnaround is getting their power play and penalty killing lines going. Los Angeles has scored five power play goals in the last four games. Chicago, on the other hand, has only scored two scored in the series.
This is all easier said than done because the Kings are playing unbelievable hockey. They are the leading scoring team in the playoffs and back it up with shutdown defense. If they can continue doing what they're doing, L.A. will be hoisting the Stanley Cup in 2014.
Tonight, it's all about one team's determination to close and the other's fight for survival. The visiting Kings are +124 on the NHL money line. The NHL odds for the over/under 5 goals scored is -113 and +102 respectively. In three of the four games it has been over that amount.
