Kings Look To Pull Far Away From The Sharks

Posted by Carter Brown on 5/17/2013 9:09:16 PM

The betting sites felt that, once the Los Angeles Kings got rolling in these NHL playoffs, the defending champs may be hard to stop. The San Jose Sharks are finding out that not only is Los Angeles resilient, but the team is also able to overcome major injuries as the Kings had to forge on in game two without AnzeKopitar. The Kings are thin at center, but the team just keeps on moving forward and working hard to defend its title. This will be an extremely difficult hockey champion to dethrone.

The online betting experts are not so sure that the Detroit Red Wings have what it takes to beat the Chicago Blackhawks. There was a time when no team could outskate or outhit the Detroit Red Wings. But with the recent departure of many key players and the team being in transition, the Red Wings are just not what they used to be. The Chicago Blackhawks do not play great defense. But, then again, Chicago does not have to worry about defense when it is able to roam the offensive zone with little or no opposition from the weary Detroit defense.

Saturday – Detroit Red Wings @ Chicago Blackhawks (Chicago leads 1-0)

In game one of this series, it almost looked as though the Chicago Blackhawks were toying with the Detroit Red Wings. The sportsbook experts could not help but notice the tremendous amount of problems that Detroit had in generating offense. Not only that, but the Blackhawks move the puck so fast that the Red Winds defense could not keep up for most of the night. Detroit goalie Jimmy Howard was under siege and there was nothing the Red Wings defense could do about it. Expect more of the same from Chicago in game two and look for the Red Wings to start showing signs of feeling like this series is already starting to slip away.

Pick: Chicago Blackhawks

Saturday – Los Angeles Kings @ San Jose Sharks (Los Angeles leads 2-0)

The Los Angeles Kings watched as star center AnzeKopitar took a puck to the mouth and dropped to the ice. Instantly, Kings fans had visions of Sidney Crosby missing over a month thanks to a broken jaw. When Kopitar returned to the game, Los Angeles fans cheered and the Kings scored two goals to take the lead late in the game. This is a very special Los Angeles Kings team that does not know what it means to give up. The San Jose Sharks are a talented and gritty hockey club with some stellar goaltending, but, it is just not enough to get past the determination of the Los Angeles Kings.

The series shifts to San Jose where the Sharks are hoping to turn home ice into momentum. But judging by the way that the Los Angeles Kings are playing this series, not even home ice will give San Jose the momentum it needs to win.

Pick: Los Angeles Kings
