Devils Kings Betting – Kings On The Cusp Of First Stanley Cup

Posted by Don Melrose on 6/5/2014 4:21:39 AM

Online betting sharps haven’t seen a team roll through the Stanley Cup playoffs like Los Angeles has in recent years, and the Kings are now one game away from the first Cup in their franchise history as they finally brought their road game to the Staples Center. However, New Jersey may have one last stand left in them in Game 4 on Wednesday night.

Devils Kings Odds – Wednesday, 8:00 PM ET

The Kings wore down the Devils on the ice and then they broke through on the score sheet in the second period of a 4-0 shutout, scoring twice in the second frame and then two more goals in the third. Alec Martinez and Anze Kopitar got it going, but the real surprise came in the third period, when Jeff Carter and Justin Williams notched power-play markers for the Kings, whose Achilles Heel throughout the postseason has been their play with the man advantage. Jonathan Quick stopped all 22 shots he faced, while the Kings outhit the Devils 55-32 and NHL betting sharps have to be searching for a way that New Jersey can send this back home for a Game 5, but it’s tough to find.

Martin Brodeur made 17 saves for the Devils, who haven’t been able to get on track from the very beginning of the series, and their special teams buried them in Game 3. Not only did they give up a pair of power-play markers in the third period, but the Devils were 0-of-6 when they were on the power play. They had a two-man advantage in the second period when the score was tied at zero and the Devils had every chance to pounce on the Kings, but they failed to score there and that seemed to take something out of New Jersey’s sails. Now, they’ll attempt to become the first team since the 1942 Toronto Maple Leafs to come back from an 0-3 deficit in the Stanley Cup finals.

Los Angeles should be the favorites at home on Wednesday night, and while the Kings have been lauded for their play on the road, they never really played the same kind of game at the Staples Center and they didn’t even look like they were going to in Game 3 until the second half of the game. The Devils simply have to score the first goal and get some momentum because the Staples Center will be rocking and if they allow the Kings to get up on them, it could get ugly. This Los Angeles team has been phenomenal throughout the playoffs and they deserve to win it on their home ice, so go with the Kings to end the Stanley Cup finals in your sports betting picks.
