Chicago Blackhawks (-310) vs Nashville Predators (+260)

Wednesday (8:30pm ET) – April 15, 2015

Wednesday night begins the first round playoff series between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Nashville Predators. When the Chicago Blackhawks made their Stanley Cup run back in 2010, they opened the playoffs against Nashville. The main difference this time around is Nashville has the luxury of home-ice advantage. Nashville made it to the playoffs with first year head coach Peter Laviolette this year, after going home early two years in a row. Chicago on the other hand, is well acquainted with the playoffs after going each of the past six years, including reaching the Western Conference finals just a year ago.

What to watch from the Chicago Blackhawks (48-28-6)

Chicago comes into the playoffs with the great news of Patrick Kane being cleared to return to action. He was cleared on Monday after missing the final 21 games of the regular season due to a broken clavicle. Goalie Corey Crawford figures to start game one of this series. He only started two of the four matchups against Nashville this season, but had success, winning both matchups despite giving up five goals in those two games. Overall, Chicago got the best of Nashville in three out of the four regular season matchups. Their playoff experience figures to give them a slight edge over the Predators despite not having home-ice to their advantage.

What to watch from the Nashville Predators (47-25-10)

Bridgestone Arena figures to be rocking for the first home playoff game of 2015. The Predators split the season series with Chicago at home 1-1, but the postseason is a whole different thing. Wing James Neal scored five goals against Chicago this season and he will need to be a difference maker in this game and throughout the series for Nashville to come out on top. Neal can be a streaky player at times but can also score a couple of goals in a hurry. Goalie Pekka Rinne allowed eight goals in three games against Nashville during the season. If he can limit the Blackhawks to one or two goals in game one he will give his team a great chance to take the early series lead.

NHL Betting Picks: Predators, Under

Game one is critical for the team with home-ice. After two years of not being in the playoffs the Predators and their fans should be juiced up for this game. They will use that to their advantage as they take the 1-0 series lead at home.
