Kings Look To Turn Tables Back Around Versus Blues

Posted by Carter Brown on 5/3/2013 11:32:19 PM

It took the St. Louis Blues eight tries before they finally found a way to beat the Los Angeles Kings on a lucky break in game one of the Western Conference Quarterfinals. After the Blues followed up with their second consecutive win in game two, the question is no longer whether they can snap a seven-game losing streak against the Kings, but instead what Los Angeles can do to get out of its funk. The online sports betting series will shift to the west coast on Saturday night for game three, with the Anaheim Ducks also taking on the Detroit Red Wings earlier in the night.

Western Conference Quarterfinal
Anaheim Ducks @ Detroit Red Wings
Saturday, 7:30 PM ET – Game 3
Series tied at 1

This other sports betting series will technically shift east as the Red Wings return to Detroit for game three, now holding home ice advantage in the series after winning game two. Gustav Nyquist was the unlikely hero in game two, scoring a powerplay goal just 1:21 in to overtime in order to even the series at one win each. That was only after the Ducks came back from down 4-1 in the game, which is somewhat surprising considering the way that Red Wings’ head coach Mike Babcock expects his teams to play. Anaheim scored three-unanswered goals in a 10-minutes span in the third to even take the game that far, but an unfortunate slashing call on Sheldon Souray sent Detroit to the powerplay where they got their game-winner. It’s hard to say which team has the momentum after the Ducks came all the way back to tie it and still lost, but the Red Wings’ powerplay clicked with three goals on six chances and now they get the home ice advantage.

NHL Betting Pick: Detroit Red Wings - 130

Western Conference Quarterfinal
St. Louis Blues @ Los Angeles Kings
Saturday, 10:00 PM ET – Game 3
Blues lead 2-0

It took the Blues more than a year to finally get a win over Los Angeles, and now they have won two in a row in the playoffs and have the chance to put the defending Stanley Cup champions on the ropes with another. St. Louis was outshot 30-27 in its game-two win, but survived another physical battle thanks to another improbable goal with under a minute left to go in regulation. This time it was Barret Jackman that played the role of hero with the winner, as the Blues stole their second-straight win. It will be a lot tougher on the road for game three where St. Louis won’t have the luxury of the second change, and after the Kings were stymied on late goals in losing each of the first two games of the online betting series, look for them to come out with the much stronger performance in order to prevent another tough loss and get on the board with a win.

NHL Betting Pick: Los Angeles Kings - 150
