Kings, Bruins Both Approach Game One With Sense Of Urgency
The Los Angeles Kings didn’t win on the road in their second round series against the San Jose Sharks. That will have to change if they are going to have any chance at reaching the Stanley Cup Final. The Kings and Boston Bruins will both be playing with a sense of urgency when they open on the road in their respective conference final series’ on Saturday. Los Angeles will visit the Presidents trophy-winning Chicago Blackhawks, while the Bruins clash with the top-seeded online sports betting team from the East in the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Western Conference Final – Game 1
Los Angeles Kings @ Chicago Blackhawks
Saturday, 5:00 PM ET
The fact that the Kings didn’t win on the road in three tries against the San Jose Sharks probably played in to them being sports betting underdogs in this series, especially considering the Blackhawks are coming off three-straight wins in their second round series comeback against the Red Wings. However, Los Angeles has already played a couple of opponents that were much tougher than the teams Chicago has beaten to get here, and they also have the experience of being the defending Stanley Cup champions.
Then there is MVP Jonathan Quick, who made several outstanding saves in game seven against the Sharks to help get the Kings through to the conference final. Quick will give Los Angeles an edge that the Blackhawks can’t bank on with Corey Crawford, and the Kings will come out with a sense of urgency knowing full well they need at least one win on the road in order to advance to the Stanley Cup Final for the second-straight season.
NHL Betting Pick: Los Angeles Kings +120
Eastern Conference Final – Game 1
Boston Bruins @ Pittsburgh Penguins
Saturday, 8:00 PM ET
The Bruins are two years removed from their Stanley Cup win, but a lot of the same core that delivered in 2011 is still present on this online sports betting team. That experience will be important as Boston goes up against the Penguins, which have decided the best approach is to play an all-out offensive style and try and outscore opponents. That will make for an interesting match up against a defensive-minded Boston team, and could lead to both teams making adjustments as game one plays out.
Pittsburgh has four of the league’s top-five scorers in these playoffs and will come out flying on home ice, so it will be on the Bruins to handle that pressure and stay in it early on. Tuukka Rask hasn’t played at an elite level in these playoffs, and what would have originally been considered an edge in favor of Boston may not be anymore with Tomas Vokoun playing at an elite level for the Penguins. Vokoun is 6-1 with a 1.85 GAA since taking over for Marc-Andre Fleury in round one, and is a big reason why Pittsburgh is the favorite in this series.
NHL Betting Pick: Pittsburgh Penguins - 140
