Bet On Ducks Blues – Blues Face Tough Test Versus Visiting Ducks On Saturday

Posted by on 3/14/2013 10:16:00 PM

The St. Louis Blues capped off a strong start to the online sports betting season with the fifth-best record in the Western Conference heading in to this week. Even more impressive is the fact that they gotten to where they are in the standings despite their relatively mediocre play at home. The Blues will look to turn things around at the Scottrade Center beginning on Sunday against the visiting Anaheim Ducks, and it should, be a good test of where they are at to this point in the season.

Anaheim Ducks @ St. Louis Blues
Saturday March 16, 2013 – 8:00 PM ET
Scottrade Center, St. Louis, Missouri
NHL Sports Betting Line: St. Louis – 120

The Ducks have been one of the hottest teams in the NHL through the first half, registering the second-best record in the conference. Anaheim has earned at least a point in 11 of its first 13 games on the road, and will look to extend that run when they visit St. Louis on Saturday.

NHL Betting Preview: Anaheim Ducks

Ryan Getzlaf has paced Anaheim in both goals and assists so far this online sports betting season, and that is one of many reasons why the team moved so quickly to lock him up long-term. Getzlaf has played in all situations this season, and is a big reason why the Ducks’ powerplay ranks No. 1 in the NHL. Anaheim is averaging 3.3 goals per game this season and rank in the top-10 in both scoring and goals allowed. In addition to their firepower on offense, the Ducks also have two very capable goaltenders in Jonas Hiller and Viktor Fasth, and feel comfortable rotating between them.

NHL Betting Preview: St. Louis Blues

The Blues have certainly underachieved at home this season, recording a nearly .500 record at the Scottrade Center through their first 12 games on home ice. St. Louis has been a very good offensive team, with its second-ranked powerplay a big reason why it ranks in the top-10 in goals per game. The problem however is at the other end of the ice, where St. Louis ranks just 23rd in goals per game allowed with an average of three against per game. The Blues can’t afford to let Anaheim score three goals, and if they do it will be an uphill climb from there.

NHL Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick

There aren’t very many teams that have been as hot out of the gate as the Ducks, which makes it that much scarier to think they don’t even have the best record in their own conference. Anaheim has looked dominant at both ends of the ice so far this season, and if they get an early jump on the Blues, this one could be over in a hurry.

NHL Betting Pick: Anaheim Ducks
