Canadiens, Islanders Facing Must-Win Situations Heading In To Tuesday Night

Posted by Carter Brown on 5/6/2013 8:01:36 PM

The NHL Eastern Conference Quarterfinals have had a bit of everything so far. From the highlight reel goals to the big hits, great saves to the line brawls, and all of the lost teeth in between. However, the focus will have to be at its highest when the online sports betting teams facing two-games-to-one series deficits take the ice for game four on Tuesday night. The Montreal Canadiens were beaten on the ice and in the alley in a game-three loss to the Ottawa Senators, and need to answer in order to avoid a three-games-to-one deficit. The same goes for a New York Islanders’ team that nearly shocked the world in a 5-4 overtime-loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday, as they look to capitalize on home-ice advantage.

Eastern Conference Quarterfinals
Montreal Canadiens @ Ottawa Senators
Tuesday, 7:00 PM ET – Game 4
Senators lead 2-1

Montreal is not the biggest team, and while they have played with a ton of heart so far in this series, getting physical isn’t the way for this team to get the job done. The Canadiens need to focus on using their speed and skill to skate around the Senators rather than trying to go right through them, and that needs to be the message sent by head coach Michel Therrien to his team. Ottawa has really gotten the Canadiens off of their game with its physical play, and it is no secret that net minder Craig Anderson has been the difference in this series. Anderson has played at an elite level through three sports betting games, and it will be on Carey Price to match his performance in goal in order to steal one back the way he did in game two as Montreal evens what has been the most exciting series so far. That won’t change with defenseman Eric Gryba set to return for a two-game suspension for his hit that knocked Lars Eller out of the series, and challenge the focus for both teams.

NHL Betting Pick: Montreal Canadiens + 130

Eastern Conference Quarterfinals
Pittsburgh Penguins @ New York Islanders
Tuesday, 7:00 PM ET – Game 4
Penguins lead 2-1

The Penguins absolutely blew the islanders in game one of their best-of-seven series, setting the tone with a 5-0 online betting win. However, it has been a much different series ever since, as the Islanders took game two with a 4-3 win and then nearly stole game three by forcing overtime before falling 5-4. Islanders’ fans are excited about what they have seen to this point, and if they can put together another quality game it isn’t that far of a reach to think they can even the series at two. Marc-Andre Fleury has been shay at best for Pittsburgh to this point, but the Islanders have not been able to take advantage of that they way they could have if Evgeni Nabokov had been better. John Tavares and company have done enough to this point in the series that they now know they can skate with the Penguins, and that confidence should play a big role as they try and even the series back up at two wins each.

NHL Betting Pick: New York Islanders + 140
