Carolina Super Bowl Betting Trends Look Good

Posted by Javier Morales on 2/3/2016 6:21:38 AM

The Super Bowl betting trends between Denver and Carolina indicates the Panthers are in good shape heading into the game this Sunday at Santa Clara, Calif.

Momentum is more on the side of Cam Newton and the Panthers judging from some of the more notable Super Bowl betting trends that are featured at SportsBetting.ag. If these trends play out to form, it will be Carolina celebrating its first Super Bowl victory in franchise history come Sunday night.

The Super Bowl betting trends:

Carolina is 17-1 straight-up (SU) this season

The Panthers finished with the NFL’s best record and are three games better than Denver’s 14-4 mark. The lone loss was in Week 16 against Atlanta, a 20-13 setback. If Carolina beats Denver on Sunday it will be only the sixth Super Bowl champion to finish with no more than one loss. The 1985 Chicago Bears are the last time to accomplish that feat.

Total OVER in four of Carolina’s last five games

In those four games, all victories for the Panthers, they have defeated the New York Giants (38-35, the game they almost blew after leading 31-7), Tampa Bay (38-10), Seattle (31-24, again hanging on after leading big early) and then Arizona (49-15 in the NFC title game that was one-sided). They averaged 39 points a game in those four games. Denver has one of the best defenses in the NFL so it will be interesting to see if this trend continues.

Denver 1-3-2 against the spread (ATS) in last six games

The only cover for the Broncos in that stretch was the 20-18 win over New England in the AFC championship as a three-point underdog. Denver failed to cover two of those games against the likes of the Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers, both games at home. They were favored by six points against the Raiders but lost 15-12 and by 10 against the Chargers but escaped with a 20-17 win. The other game they failed to cover in this stretch was beating Cincinnati 20-17 at home when favored by four points.

Denver is 4-1 SU in its last five games

A trend that finally favors the Broncos, although as was written above, they did not win by much. In fact, none of the four wins were by more than seven points. The 23-16 win over Pittsburgh in the AFC divisional round at home was a push. Denver did not really rout anyone this season. The Broncos’ largest margin of victory was 19 points (29-10) against Green Bay on Nov. 1 in Denver. Eleven of their 14 wins this season are by a touchdown or less.
