Your Guide to Playing American Roulette

As one of the oldest casino games that rose to popularity in the 18th century, American Roulette has carved out a decent niche among casino fanatics. French immigrants brought the European roulette to the United States, and it wasn’t long before the natives had put their own spin on it. The basic objective of the game is the same as other kinds of roulette variants: predict the numbered slot where the roulette ball will land. Here, you can make predictions about the number, the color (red or black), and even choose whether it would be a prime, odd, or even number. The more specific your prediction, the more money you stand to win.

Before you begin

Before you approach the roulette table, there is one important detail that you must keep in mind. You should know that the game is played with very specific chips that do not have any sort of markings on them. They denote the denomination of currency and are used primarily at the table, so before you start playing, it’s best to head to the croupier.

Cash or regular chips of the casino can be exchanged for roulette chips. You will notice that the color of the chips is different when compared with the person on the side. This allows the croupier to distinguish between the different bets made by each player. After the game is over, you can get the chips exchanged with the croupier again.

Another important thing that you should know about playing American roulette is the associated betting limits. Different casinos have different limits, so it’s best to first find out the minimum and maximum limits at the table before you even sit down. Make sure that the lowest bet you make isn’t below the minimum at the table; otherwise, the croupier will call on you or remove you from the game.

The game

To get started, all you have to do is take a certain amount of chips and place them on the bet that you wish to make. There are different betting areas on the table, so make sure that you keep the chips within the designated area. After the bet is confirmed, the croupier spins the roulette wheel and announces that no more bets can be made. You will then have to wait and see if you win the bet or not. It’s pretty easy to learn the game.
