Seattle Seahawks NFL Odds to Win the Super Bowl

The Seattle Seahawks will start the 2012 season with a problem they love to have.  They have two quarterbacks, either of which could start on week 1.  They will go head to head in the preseason to see who will get the coveted starting position. The Hawks are 50/1 in the NFL Odds to Win the Super Bowl.

NFL Future Odds:
To Win The NFC West +400
To Win The NFC Championship +2500
Regular Season Wins Over/Under: 7

Offense:
Tarvaris Jackson had a decent year in 2011, but he was particularly good in the second half of the season recording seven touchdowns and two interceptions in the last six games of the year.

However, those numbers only gave Jackson the opportunity to fight for the starting job with new comer Matt Flynn.  Coach Pete Carroll knows Flynn only played one game last year, but in that game Matt gave an Aaron Rodgers impersonation than Jackson hasn’t even dreamed on imitating.

Flynn has been five years in the league and has thrown nine touchdowns (6 against the Lions last year) and five interceptions in his entire career.  He remains in question because it doesn’t matter if he looked great in one game.
Interestingly despite the job battle between Jackson and Flynn, it is rookie Russell Wilson, coming out of nowhere who recently won the starting quarterback job after a great preseason.

Running back Marshall Lynch is going to be what makes a difference in this unit.  If the beast is ready to go, everything will be easier for Jackson or Flynn.

TE Kellen Winslow II will give the quarterback a decent set of hands, but outside the numbers, Seattle doesn’t have a real playmaker that could win you games with unbelievable catches.

Defense:
The defensive unit was what kept the Seahawks alive in plenty of the games last season.  They ranked 11th against the pass and 15th against the run.
Seattle picked eight defensive players in the draft, including outside linebacker from West Virginia, Bruce Irvin.  They addressed the middle of the defense because according to Carroll, that’s what could get you far in this division.

2012 Seattle Seahawks Schedule:
Seattle has the 11th most difficult calendar in 2012 facing 4 teams that advanced to the playoffs last year.  The Seahawks will take on the NFC North and the AFC East.
