Alabama won its three final games of the regular season and beat Georgia 32-28 in the SEC title game to reach this contest. The Crimson Tide averaged 38.5 points per game this season while allowing a paltry 10.7 per game defensively. Despite their on-field success this season, the Crimson Tide have gone just 1-4 ATS over their L/5 games.

Notre Dame went undefeated this season and will bring a modest two-game ATS winning streak into their BCS title game showdown. Notre Dame averaged 26.8 points per game this season while allowing 10.3 per game defensively.

The Nevada Wolf Pack (7-5 SU, 3-8-1 ATS) and Arizona Wildcats (7-4 SU, 6-5 ATS)  will both be trying to pick up a season-ending victory when they square off on December 15 at 1:00 PM ET at University Stadium in the college football Gildan New Mexico Bowl 2012.

Nevada lost four of its L/5 games but managed to cover the college football odds in its regular season finale to snap a dismal seven-game ATS losing streak. Arizona has lost two of its L/3 games and three of its L4 against the spread (ATS).

The Toledo Rockets (9-3 SU, 7-5 ATS) and the Utah State Aggies (10-2 SU, 10-1-1 ATS) will both be trying to finish off their seasons in style when they meet in the college football Famous Idaho Potato Bowl 2012 on December 15 at 2:30 PM ET.

Toledo halted a two-game losing streak by beating Akron 35-23 to move to 7-2 SU over its L/9 games. The Rockets are just 1-3 ATS over their L/4 games and average 32.9 points per game while allowing 27.3 per contest defensively. Toledo (9-3) is making a return to the postseason after missing out last year. The Rockets did beat Air Force in the 2011 Military Bowl.

Utah State has won eight of its L/9 games and will come into this college football Famous Idaho Potato Bowl 2012 riding an impressive six-game SU winning streak. The Aggies are 7-1 ATS in their L/8 games and average a stellar 34.4 points per game while giving up just 15.4 per contest defensively. Utah State is making its second straight appearance in this bowl game after losing a thriller against Ohio last year. Utah State won the WAC title this season and set a school record for victories in a single season.

Central Florida struggled down the stretch, dropping two of its last three games, including its 33-27 loss to Tulsa in the Conference USA championship game. The Knights went just 1-3 ATS over its L/4 games.

Ball State enters this bowl game on fire, having won six straight games, including its season-ending 31-24 win over Miami (Ohio). The Cardinals will make their first postseason appearance since playing in the 2008 GMAC Bowl.

Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl

Air Force struggled down the stretch, losing three of its L/4 games, including its season-ending 48-15 smackdown against Fresno State. Air Force averages 28.5 points per game but allows 28.7 per contest defensively. Making matters worse is the fact that the Falcons are riding a dismal 0-4 ATS streak into this contest.

This is the fourth appearance for Air Force in the Armed Forces Bowl, the most for any team and
school-record sixth consecutive bowl season for the Falcons.

Rice finished off their regular season by winning four straight games and five of their L/6 games overall. The Owls compiled an impressive 5-1 ATS mark over their last half-dozen games and averaged 31.8 points per game while allowing a nearly identical 31.3 points per contest defensively. Rice will play in its third bowl game since a lengthy 45-year postseason drought that lasted from 1961 to 2006.

The game will be played in the completely redone stadium on the TCU campus. For its 10th anniversary contest, the college football Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl 2012 will be back in its original location after two years at SMU.
